Around 40 pupils from the support center came into the garden and sang “Phoenix” for the residents of the senior citizens’ home. In addition to two Christmas carols, the children surprised with pre-Christmas handicrafts.

Every year, according to the headmaster and rector Klaus Jahn, the children of the Mitterteich support center give the residents of the “Phönix” retirement home a little pre-Christmas joy. The school choir is usually a guest in the auditorium of the senior citizens’ home and sings Christmas carols. Unfortunately, this was not possible this year. So it was rescheduled at short notice: The children sang in the garden of the support center on Wednesday morning and gave their neighbors, the senior citizens great joy. They listened to the singing of the children in the common rooms or standing on their balconies.
Under the direction of Stefanie Hetz (Musik AG), the children sang the songs “We say you an” and “O Tannenbaum” before handing over handcrafted Christmas presents to Jutta Ernst, head of social care at the “Phönix” house. The total of 66 children at the support center had tinkered various angels out of pine cones and feathers, 110 stars and a Christmas mobile that has now been handed over. The seniors applauded the children for their singing and thanked them for the gifts. An old tradition was maintained despite Corona.
