Music reading in Nikolaikirche Altenstadt postponed again

At the second catch-up date it should have worked and the music reading “On the street of love” should now take place in the Nikolaikirche, but the corona pandemic intervened again.

Ursula Kinzer, Sabine Scheffel-Schaubach and Gerhard Schaubach (from left) are again unable to perform their planned music reading “On the street of love”. As an appetizer, a small excerpt of the program can be seen on the Internet from Sunday until the actual performance can be rescheduled.

OLD TOWN – (red). The revised version of the successful music reading “On the Road of Love” in the series “St. Nikolai musiziert ”, which should actually have taken place next Sunday, February 14th at 5 pm in the Protestant St. Nicholas Church in Altenstadt (Stammheimer Strasse), falls victim to the extended lockdown. This is communicated by church chairman and organist Gerhard Schaubach, who himself is one of the protagonists of the event.

The music reading had already been postponed once, originally planned in May, and should then have taken place in September last year. Here, too, Corona thwarted the bill, which is why February 14th was avoided. This date for the music reading, which is dedicated to Hartmut “Haki” Kinzer, the long-term chairman of the church council, who died in 2017, could no longer be kept and will be postponed again. The reading has now been continued as a project grant from the Hessian Cultural Foundation.

On Valentine’s Day, the perfect day for this topic, the final performance should now take place. Until the lockdown allows a public music reading, a short video will show a small excerpt of the program on YouTube from February 14th at 5 p.m. Links can be found on the homepage and the Facebook page of the Evangelical St. Nikolai parish in Altenstadt (https://altenstadt-evangelisch.ekhn.de).

The musical reading with the title “On the street of love – music, texts and stories that touch us all …” is designed by Ursula Kinzer through words and text design, Sabine Scheffel-Schaubach as violinist and the pianist and organist Gerhard Schaubach . The new Blüthner grand piano from 1910 is also used in the church.
