Music – Hitzacker (Elbe) – Summer Music Days Hitzacker opened – Culture

Hitzacker (dpa/lni) – The production “Kokon” opened the 77th Summer Music Days Hitzacker on Saturday. The chamber music festival in Wendland is entitled “Zeit.Räume” and wants to emphasize the value of culture, especially in difficult times. The opening event of the nine-day program featured Bas Böttcher (slam poetry), Yui Kawaguchi and Ruben Reniers (dance), Johannes Fischer (drums, composition) and the Kuss Quartet.

“The only thing that is certain in this program is how irreplaceable art is for us humans, the adventure Summer Music Days will prove that in every contribution,” said director Oliver Wille before the event began. In the past two years, the festival has managed without Corona aid from Berlin thanks to good audience participation. In 2021, 8,000 music lovers came to Hitzacker. There is no obligation, but the recommendation to wear FFP2 masks.

The Hitzacker Summer Music Days are Germany’s oldest chamber music festival. Every summer, for nine days around August 1st, they transform the half-timbered town of Hitzacker on the Elbe into a center of cultural interaction.
