Murtada Mansour: Al-Ahly fabricated the “February 29th” problem without a reason

Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek Club, confirmed that Al-Ahly had created a problem by requesting his participation in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the African Champions League at the same time that Kef agreed to hold the Al-Abyad match in the same role in the competition.

Zamalek and Al-Ahly are going to the CAF Champions League quarter-final at the end of February, as Al-Ahmar hosts the South African Sundowns Club, and Al-Abyad, the Tunisian Esperance team, and the two clubs want to play on 29 Cairo Stadium.

Mortada Mansour said, in telephone statements to “Al-Zamalek” channel in the early hours of Wednesday morning: “Zamalek notified the African Confederation of playing the match on the 29th of Cairo Stadium, and we obtained official approval from the CAF for the appointment and the stadium.”

He added: “But Al-Ahly made up a problem after that without any reason by asking to play its match against the Sundowns at the same time, although Zamalek anticipated that step, so why do we create a crisis?”

He explained: “We hope that no problems will be exported to the country and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It is impossible for security to organize two games for Al-Ahly and Zamalek in one day.”

And Mortada concluded his statements calling for the postponement of the league summit: “My question is for Omar Al-Janayni, President of the Football Association, is it possible that there will be only one day before the Al-Ahly and Zamalek match in the league? We want to maintain the physical fitness of our children in the two teams.”

It is noteworthy that Al-Ahly will face Zamalek in the Egyptian Super match in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi on February 20, then the two teams will return to Egypt for the top match in the Premier League on the 24th of the same month at the Cairo Stadium Stadium.
