Murray State women’s golf defeated Austin Peay in the Battle of the Border match play competition held today,April 15,2024. The Racers secured a 4-3 victory over the Governors at the Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Kentucky.
The annual Battle of the Border rivalry saw Murray State gain an edge in the series,showcasing their strength in head-to-head competition. The Racers began strong in the alternate shot format, with Tina Von Arx and Alyvia Boddie defeating Abby Jimenez and Katie Roberts of Austin Peay, 2 & 1.
Singles play saw mixed results for Murray State. Jillian Breedlove and Patti Patterson finished all square. Jordin Cowing defeated Elin Tynan 3 & 2. Ella Scherer dominated Ella Arnzen with a 5 & 4 victory, and Tina Von Arx also secured a 5 & 4 win against Abby Hirtzel. However, Abby Jimenez defeated Katherine Weir 4 & 3, Makenna Cox topped Kylah Lunsford 1 up, and Katie Roberts defeated Alyvia Boddie 2 & 1, while autumn Spencer bested Kaitlyn Zieba 4 & 3.
