The Municipal Theater has just installed the first Curatorial Committee of the space, a group of representatives linked to the arts and education of Ñuble that will contribute to the cultural development of the largest center in the region.
This committee was able to be constituted thanks to a project, as explained by the programming director, Estrella Monrroy. “The project awarded by the Cultural Corporation ‘The Theater and its publics’, of the National Ministry of Cultural Arts and Heritage, has as one of its axes and objectives the creation of a curatorial committee, which was formed by issuing invitations to different representatives of the cultural and academic world and institutions with which the Cultural Corporation maintains collaboration agreements as strategic partners, several of them representatives of educational establishments ”.
In this way, the committee was made up of Sixto Valdés (Cine The Oz), Mauricio Frías (Corporación Cultural Ñuble and owner of Librería Que Leo Chillán), Karla Reyes (professor), Andrés Miranda (Explora Ñuble, Universidad de Concepción), Margarita Alarcón (Temachi), Edith Hernández (School of Dance, Edith Hernández), Luis Leonardo Seguel (Bío Bío University Extension), Pedro Pablo Rojas (University of Concepción), Ricardo Bocaz (Pedro de Valdivia University), Carolina Manríquez (Academy of Danza Anises Feres), Ximena Peña (actress) and Marco Antonio Caro (Polivalente Liceo de San Nicolás).
The group already had its first meeting and it was held together with the prominent national actor Alejandro Goic. “We are in full development of this stage of the project, each member of this committee is contributing with their experiences and this week was the first curatorial talk dedicated to theater, it was in charge of the outstanding actor, director and producer Alejandro Goic, and it was a day a lot of learning that will leave more arguments for each member when they have to contribute with their ideas in the curatorship of programming proposals for the Municipal Theater ”, explains Estrella.

Mauricio Frías commented to La Discusión that “the creation of this curatorial committee is very good news for the city and shows the great decentralizing, pluralistic and democratic work that the Cultural Corporation of the Municipal Theater has wanted to develop. I receive this invitation with great pride, but also with responsibility. We are part of a body that will influence the preparation of the theater billboard and from there on the formation of the audience, which, in my opinion, must necessarily be oriented largely towards our children and their artistic, cultural and civic education. We already started the work this week, with a training session led by the prominent national actor Alejandro Goic. I am very excited about the formation of this group, which is made up of various personalities from the artistic, cultural, educational and private world, ”he said.
For his part, Leonardo Seguel, director of UBB Extension, specified that this new task is fully in line with the principle of the UBB, which is to contribute from the academy to the development of arts and culture.
“The meeting with Alejandro Goic was an excellent starting point, because he came to deliver an inspiring idea, the spirit with which to undertake this challenge of spreading culture, of incorporating values to collective creation and to add education to the arts. Theaters in general must be close to the community. This theater of course has it, but it can be stepped up and that’s the challenge. Culture in the pandemic has been like an antidote to the lack of communication between people. Our mission is not to lose sensitivity and creativity, which is also the permanent task of education and which is fundamental for theater. Our main duty is to be the communication channel between the community and the theater, to work for decentralization and to interpret the dreams of that community. In addition, this task is in accordance with our university philosophy, to contribute from the academy to the development of art and cultures ”, he indicated.
