Mülheim an der Ruhr Aktionslabor: Nachrichtenkompetenz Ausstellung

Mülheim an der Ruhr A new interactive⁣ exhibit launched today ‍in Mülheim an​ der ruhr aims ​to equip citizens ‍with the critical thinking skills needed to ⁢navigate today’s complex media landscape. The AktionslaborRedaktionelle Gesellschaft” (“Editorial Society” Action Lab), hosted at the‌ city library in the⁤ Medienhaus,⁣ is ‍now open to the public and will run through November 22, 2025.

The exhibit, created by the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS and supported by ⁢the ⁤Brost-Stiftung, arrives at a time when discerning credible information from misinformation⁤ is more ​crucial than ever. Through virtual ‌reality experiences, a ⁤digital group game called “Citizen Quest,” and informative displays, visitors can explore how news is created,​ the ease with wich perceptions can be manipulated, and strategies for confidently evaluating information. The free lab underscores the importance of ⁢media literacy⁣ for informed civic engagement and‌ a stronger community.

“The Action Lab is a‌ fantastic ‌possibility ‌to engage directly⁣ and easily​ with the topic of news competence,” stated ‌Dr. Daniela Grobe, Mülheim ‍an der Ruhr’s City Councillor for Culture. “It demonstrates how⁢ vital ‍it is for all ⁢of us to‍ understand how information is generated and⁢ how to properly assess it – this strengthens our society.”

The city library will also host‍ complimentary workshops to encourage‍ discussion and critical thinking:

The Aktionslabor is open​ Monday through⁤ Friday from 10:00 ⁢to 18:30 and Saturdays from 10:00⁢ to 14:00, coinciding with ⁣the library’s opening hours on the frist floor. Admission is free.
