Two high-ranking Indonesian Ulama Council officials (MUI) criticized the decision of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT Pelni (Persero) related to the polemic of the list of speakers of Ramadan study activities 1442 H. The decision of PT Pelni related to the polemic of the list of speakers of Ramadan study activities was considered contrary to the first precept of Pancasila.
“The cancellation of the Ramadan recitation schedule by the board of directors of PT Pelni and the removal of officers who handle spiritual issues at the red plate PT is a real form of arrogance of power. This policy hurts the feelings of Muslims and contradicts the first principles of Pancasila,” Deputy Chairman of the MUI Advisory Council, Muhyiddin Junaidi, told reporters on Friday (9/4/2021).
Muhyiddin said that mental and spiritual development among employees / female employees of a company is an integral part of the agenda of developing human resources who have high integrity to the nation and state. In fact, religious lectures are indispensable to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility to the company.
“Thus, losses and losses of state assets can be resolved. Cases of abuse and irregularities can also be resolved. The government should provide incentives to those who are active and creative in helping the government in the field of mental and spiritual development. Not the other way around. They are threatened and subject to heavy sanctions,” he said. .
“MUI asks the state officials to be aware that they should stop linking acts of violence with the behavior of Muslims,” Muhyiddin added.
MUI Secretary General Amirsyah Tambunan regretted the cancellation of the Ramadan 1442 H recitation activity which became a polemic. Amirsyah considered that the cancellation of the activity had a bad impact.
“The MUI Secretary regretted the cancellation of a number of ustaz at PT Pelni. The talk by Zoom related to the implementation of Ramadan with the theme ‘Ramadan Strengthens and Strengthens Faith’. The interesting and actual theme of the study of Ramadan 1442 H was scheduled for April 8-29, 2021. We deeply regret the cancellation. “said Amirsyah.

Amirsyah asked BUMN Minister Erick Thohir to provide clarification. He appealed not to easily give radical stigma.
“I ask the State Minister for State-Owned Enterprises to clarify what actually happened at PT Pelni. Do not give it too easily to give a radical stigma, because the term radical itself is still a debate which is then unclear what substance is radical. Then it was used as an excuse to cancel the lecture at PT Pelni,” he called.
