‘Muharrem İnce’ statement from Ekrem İmamoğlu

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) carries out rehabilitation works in three different points, namely between the Marmara Sea – the World Trade Center, the World Trade Center – the TEM Highway and the regions above the TEM Highway, in order to prevent the disasters experienced by the overflow of the stream.

Expressing that he found the rehabilitation works carried out in Ayamama Stream very valuable, İmamoğlu said:

“Ayamama Stream is actually a very important area for Istanbul. In fact, a period of tragic events and loss of life. It is an area where both the vehicles were flooded as a result of the floods and the people who were left in their vehicles died and tragic events took place. It is very precious to collect the wastewater of Ayamama Creek, which causes environmental pollution, and transfer it to our treatment facility. Moreover, the transformation of Ayamama Creek into a very valuable living space for Istanbul. So, we look at the issue from two sides.

Expressing the information that they carried out a cross section of 25 meters wide and 4 meters high for the rehabilitation of Ayamama Creek, İmamoğlu said that the length of the stream is 21 kilometers. For example, we are talking about meeting with Marmaray, our other metro lines, metrobus, that is, if we create such breathing corridors, we will really ensure that Istanbul has a process suitable for a more humane life.

Now, we will deliver it directly to the sea with a 1,600, 2,000-meter line, which will be an important work to eliminate odor. “The first phase will end here in March. There are many stages. Landscape implementation will begin in March. Therefore, we will actually see a serious example in 2021. Another issue here is the E-5 crossings. That E-5 part is the pedestrian crossings in the viaduct section. My friends are working on this because we want to create an uninterrupted transportation axis, there are historical bridges here, there are historical bridges even here a little while ago. After the completion of the rehabilitation of Ayamama Creek, the valley of life is planned to be put into service at the beginning of summer 2021. The rehabilitation of the 15,800-meter section of the Ayamama Stream, whose main tributary is 21 kilometers long, has been completed in the past years.

In the remaining part of 5,200 meters, reclamation work, wastewater collector manufacturing, expropriation operations and zoning practices continue.
