Much ridicule for Trump at the Emmy Awards – BZ Berlin

For the 69th time, the Emmys have been awarded as the most important US television awards in Los Angeles. In addition to series, TV films and TV shows are also recognized.

Seasoned with a lot of ridicule for US President Donald Trump, the awarding of the coveted US television awards Emmys began in Los Angeles. For his parodic portrayal of the president in the satire show “Saturday Night Live”, US actor Alec Baldwin received the trophy for best supporting actor in a comedy series on Sunday evening (local time).

“I guess I should say, ‘At last, Mr. President, this is your Emmy,” said Baldwin as he accepted the award. He was alluding to Trump’s complaints that he had never received an award for his successful reality show “The Apprentice”.

Before Baldwin’s award, presenter Stephen Colbert had joked: “We know that the biggest television star of the past year was Donald Trump. And Alec Baldwin. ”However you stand with the US President, it cannot be denied that“ every show was influenced in some way by Donald Trump ”.

With his portrayal of the US President, in which he deliberately exaggerated Trump’s linguistic peculiarities and his hand movements, Baldwin helped “Saturday Night Live” to achieve record ratings. Some of the satire’s YouTube clips have already been viewed 20 million times. Baldwin’s colleague Kate McKinnon, who played Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton during the US presidential campaign, also received an Emmy.

The US actor John Lithgow was also honored for a role in politics. He received the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of the legendary British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the Netflix political drama “The Crown”. Lithgow praised Churchill as a true role model in his acceptance speech: “In these crazy times, his life even as an old man reminds us of what decisiveness and courage really look like in a government.”
