MU is now eyeing PSV Eindhoven striker, who is he?

Manchester

Manchester United still continue to hunt for forwards in the rest of the summer transfer window. This time it’s the striker’s turn PSV Eindhoven Cody Gakpo targeted.

Manchester United last chased a Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic. The surprising rumors finally evaporated, after the Rossoblu rejected MU’s bid proposal of around £6.5 million.

MU does not want to increase its offer again and chooses to shift focus to other games. One of the things that MU is currently eyeing is PSV forward Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo is included in the list of Manchester United’s target strikers after his solid performance with PSV last season. Gakpo led PSV to win the Dutch Cup and scored 21 goals from 47 matches.

With the age of 23 years, Gakpo will be MU’s investment in the future. Gakpo even scored two goals when PSV beat FC Emmen 4-1 in the opening match of the Dutch League last weekend.

Erik ten Hag as the manager of MU certainly knows the quality of Gakpo because he has faced him for several seasons. Gakpo is quoted by ESPN as being interested in a move to Manchester United this summer.

However, MU must spend a minimum of 35 million pounds to be able to bring Gakpo to Old Trafford. MU has definitely used connections with former players who are now PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Gakpo has scored 45 goals from 138 appearances since joining the PSV first team in 2017. With these statistics, Gakpo is expected to sharpen MU’s attack line if he joins.

With less than a month left in the transfer window, Manchester United can no longer fail to attract Gakpo or other prey. Because, MU has started the Premier League with a 1-2 defeat of Brighton & Hove Albion at home.
