Cologne

Manchester United qualify for the semifinals Europa League. MU center back Victor Lindelof believes, a longer break will benefit MU.

The Red Devils’ escape was determined by a 1-0 victory over Copenhagen in the quarter-finals at the Rheine-Energie Stadion, Tuesday (11/8/2020). Bruno Fernandes become a MU hero after converting the penalty prize in extra time.

Thus, MU is now just waiting for the opponent in the semifinals, namely the winner of the duel between Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Sevilla which was held on Wednesday (12/8) in the morning WIB. Meanwhile, MU will compete for one ticket to the final on Sunday (17/8), WIB.

It means Manchester United has a day longer rest than the opponent. Lindelof believes this will be an advantage for his team in their efforts to reach the final.

“It’s hard to say, but it’s a tough phase now so an extra day of rest is always a positive thing,” the Sweden international told MUTV. “An extra day of rest … you never knew that could make the difference.”

Lindelof only played about 20 minutes when United got rid of Copenhagen when he came on for Eric Bailly. Lindelof almost broke into the Danish representative’s goal when his attempt hit the post.

“Hopefully we can win the semifinals and qualify for the final. That is our target and hopefully we can do well and qualify,” he said. Victor Lindelof.

Manchester United have undergone a title fast for two seasons. The last time United lifted the championship trophy was in 2016/17 when they won the League Cup, Community Shield and the Europa League.
