MTA Reveals Weekend Closures for 7 Train – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — As if the freezing cold isn’t reason enough to stay indoors this weekend, perhaps the changes to subway service are.

For six weekends this winter and early spring, the 7 train will shut down between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards in Manhattan.

Customers can transfer to/from the E, F and R trains at 74 St-Broadway or to/from the N and W trains at Queensboro Plaza for service between Manhattan and Queens, according to the MTA.

Free buses will be provided between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd – Jackson Av, and between Times Square and 34 St-Hudson Yards.

The Grand Central Shuttle will operate all night and W train service will run Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Astoria-Ditmars Blvd and 34 St-Herald Square in addition to N train service.

These service changes will be in effect from 12:15 a.m. Saturday, February 4 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, as well as from 3:45 a.m. Saturday through 10 p.m. Sunday, the following weekends of week:

  • February 11 – February 12
  • February 25 – February 26
  • March 11 – March 12
  • March 25 – March 26
  • April 22 – April 23

Additional changes to weekend service are anticipated later this year and in 2024, according to the MTA.
