MSI Afterburner, which is famous for overclocking and graphics card monitoring tools, is becoming the root of malicious code infection.
According to cybersecurity firm Cyble, a phishing campaign targeting MSI Afterburner has been uncovered, and a phishing page that elaborately mimics the official site has also been confirmed.
If MSI Afterburner is downloaded via this site, the download of the coin mining malware is tricked, and in this case, an attacker can mine the cryptocurrency without the user’s consent.
Cyble said that around 50 phishing sites targeting MSI Afterburner were discovered in the last 3 months. To avoid this problem, it is recommended to download only from official websites or approved sites, not redistribution sites.
