A train collided with a car at a guarded railway crossing in Haelen in Limburg. In addition, the driver of the car died. The co-driver was seriously injured.
The occupants of the train that came from the direction of Roermond have been evacuated. No people were injured on the train. Nothing is yet known about the cause of the accident. Nor can the police say anything about the identity of the victims.
The train traffic between Roermond and Weert has been stopped for the time being. The Dutch Railways (NS) think that it will take around 11.15 pm. Until then buses run between the two places.
