Argentine Motorcycle Sales Surge as New Models Arrive
motorcycle sales in Argentina are experiencing a meaningful boom, with 360,163 units sold between January and July – a 47% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth is attributed to improved macroeconomic stability and increased access to financing options with favorable interest rates, alongside the introduction of competitive new models to the market.
A key driver of this expansion is the arrival of several new motorcycles aimed at capturing a share of the Argentine market. Notably, the Motoplex concept - integrating various Italian brands – is now offering the Aprilia SXR160, a two-wheeled scooter, and the Piaggio MP3, a three-wheeled model.
“These new models reflect the spirit of Italian innovation and design that characterizes the brandS universe,” stated Matías Michaylyszyn, Business Manager of Motoplex Argentina at Grupo Simpa Sa. “Piaggio MP3 opens a new dimension in urban mobility, combining functionality, technology and style. The Aprilia SXR160 redefines the concept of sports scooters.”
The Piaggio MP3 distinguishes itself with its three-wheel configuration (two front, one rear), equipped with ABS, traction control (ASR), a parking brake, a TFT display, a USB port, and connectivity via the Piaggio Mia app. Powered by a 310cc engine, it delivers 26.4 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 27.3 Nm of torque, reaching a top speed of 129 km/h. According to representatives, this scooter is uniquely approved for highway use, prioritizing safety, comfort, and advanced technology.
For riders seeking a blend of sportiness and comfort, the Aprilia SXR160 offers a 160cc monocylindrical engine with I-GET technology, producing 10.9 hp at 7100 rpm and 11.6 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. Its maximum speed is 95 km/h. Features include a front disc brake with ABS, a three-module LED headlight, a digital instrument panel, a USB port, and an ergonomic seat and loading area.
Pricing for the new models is as follows: the Piaggio MP3 is available for $18,350,000, with financing options requiring a 50% down payment plus 12 installments without interest (linked to the UVA index). The Aprilia SXR160 is priced at $5,990,000, with a similar financing structure of a 50% down payment and 18 installments without interest.
