Motor insurance – this is where drivers pay a lot – economy

The cost of the motor vehicleinsurance can differ greatly in Germany – up to 80 percent depending on where you live! BILD says where it is particularly expensive for drivers.

Comprehensive car insurance is particularly expensive in large cities and in southeastern Bavaria – comparatively cheap premiums are offered in northern and eastern Germany.

Berliners pay the highest premiums for fully comprehensive car insurance

All-round protection for the vehicle costs up to 43 percent more in Berlin than the national average – and up to 80 percent more than in the cheapest area.

“The regional damage statistics are reflected in the premium differences,” says Rainer Klipp, Managing Director of Motor Insurance at CHECK24.

Large cities in particular, in which accidents occur more frequently due to the dense traffic, are classified in higher regional classes. “And the higher the rating, the more expensive the motor vehicle insurance is,” says Klipp.

In major German cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt a. M. and Cologne, the insurance premiums are particularly high. But drivers also pay a comparatively high amount for their car insurance in southeast Bavaria and the Ruhr area.

In many regions in the north and east of the Federal Republic of Germany, on the other hand, fully comprehensive insurance is rather cheap.

The cheapest postal code area for a fully comprehensive insurance was in the Hessian Wölfersheim. Here, drivers pay 21 percent less than the national average!

Important: The regional class or place of residence is only one of more than 50 tariff features that determine the amount of vehicle insurance. In addition, it is important, for example, who drives the car, what the annual mileage is and in which type class the car is classified.
