Yamaha rider Petronas continues to test just as positively as in Malaysia, and is satisfied with the second day in Qatar.
With 70 laps on the clock, Franco Morbidelli was the most diligent driver on the track today. The Italian seems to continue in the same dynamic as in Sepang, where he had played in the first places most of the time. He therefore concluded this second day at Losail in fourth position, after finishing fifth yesterday.
Those first two days saw him test the new tires, the results of which seem to be there. The chassis and the whole aerodynamic side were also at the heart of the work carried out, before considering carrying out a race simulation tomorrow.
“Today we were pretty fast and we were able to have a good pace with the medium tire, but we also tested the hard and the soft. The medium and the soft are quite similar in terms of performance, so it will be important to make the right choice on race day ”, he explained.
“Later that evening it was quite wet and it was more difficult to have a good lap, but overall I felt a little better, more comfortable on the bike and more consistent. This afternoon we worked on my speed and it looks good but we will have to see what it will give in the race. “
With Fabio Quartararo in first position and Maverick Viñales in third place, without forgetting Valentino Rossi who evolved in the top of the classification during the day, the Yamaha are really in shape during this pre-season, just like the Suzuki. It remains to be seen whether all of this will be confirmed tomorrow and especially during the first Grand Prix of the season, in two weeks.
