In the third free practice alias free practice 3 (FP3), Zarco was only able to record the 12th fastest lap time with 1 minute 23.879 seconds.
As a result, the French racer had to undergo the first qualifying session, aka Q1, so he could get a chance to appear in Q2.

Zarco then completed the Q1 session well.
Together with the Ducati racer, Danilo Petrucci, he managed to penetrate Q2.
In this phase, Zarco finally proved the talent he had.
