MotoGP Misano, Bagnaia falls: Marquez wins, Quartararo world champion

The Ducati Italian fell when he was in command, the Spaniard precedes Pol Espargaro and Enea Bastianini. Quartararo is satisfied with the fourth position and wins his first world title

Bagnaia wastes the opportunity to reopen in the World Championship, Marc Marquez returns to win in his own way (solo) and Fabio Quartararo celebrates his first World Championship in the premier category with two GPs in advance.

THE START OF THE RACE

Bagnaia starts very strong and remains in the lead in front of a super aggressive Marquez: then, a few laps from the end, the disaster. Pecco loses the front at turn 15 while trying the extension and delivers the world championship in the hands of Fabio Quartararo who, as a great champion, managed, recovered and closed in fourth position behind a super Enea Bastianini who at the end attacks el Diablo with determination and closes third.

RACE CHRONICLE: WE START

Great shot by Miller but Bagnaia remains in front of the first detached, which Oliveira also takes advantage of. Quartararo is 17th in the first part of the lap, while Luca Marini goes down to seventh place. The Yamaha Frenchman is determined to recover and starts the second round 14th, behind Zarco. Bagnaia tries the draw and behind the two official Ducatis is Marc Marquez. Fall for Mir and Petrucci, shame for the Italian, out on his birthday. While Quartararo tries the comeback (12th in the third pass), the leading trio remains compact and runs away. The Spaniard number 93 is charged up and prints the best lap of the race. Then Miller crashes at turn 15, closed in front for the Australian. Marquez is 7 tenths of a second behind Pecco, but in just one lap he clears them. Meanwhile, during lap 6 Quartararo enters the top 10. The struggle of nerves begins between Bagnaia and Marc Marquez, who remains attached to the redhead. Third for now Pol Espargaro, hunted by Oliveira. Then Morbidelli, Aleix Espargaro and Marini. Quartararo is 9th behind Rins.

HALF-RACE CHRONICLE

On lap 11 both Alex Marquez, due to a technical problem, and Lecuona, who crashed in curve 1 leave the scene. Martin also slips in the same point on lap 13, while in front of Luca Marini, with Rins and Quartararo, he is very close to Aleix Espargaro and Morbidelli. The first four positions are stable for now, while fifth place is being played behind, the Frenchman closes the group. Rins has a good pace and manages to put Morbidelli on; followed closely by Quartararo and Marini, who climb to seventh and eighth position with 13 laps to go. Pecco starts to push: 1’32 ”171 on lap 17, but Marquez doesn’t give up. El Diablo, on the other hand, slowly climbs up, successfully attacks Rins and shortly thereafter also Aleix Espargaro: at 9 laps from the checkered flag he is 5th. Now the Honda-Ktm duo are 8 seconds ahead.

TOWARDS THE CHESS FLAG

From the rear Bastianini has climbed up to seventh square and six laps from the end he sees Rins close. Up front Pecco keeps a hammer-like pace and Marquez begins to feel the blow, perhaps thanks to the soft rear tire and possible arm fatigue: 9 tenths of the Italian. The Beast is always on fire and also puts Rins in for fifth position. Twist of the scene, Bagnaia falls! A great pity that gives the title to Quartararo. Then Oliveira also falls and the Frenchman finds the podium, with Bastianini 4th. Three laps to go and number 33 sees the podium just 8 tenths ahead of the two official Hondas alone. Last lap Bastianini is very close and the Carro surprises Quartararo with a decisive attack. Marquez wins alone in front of his teammate, Bastianini celebrates the podium and the Frenchman his first world title. Rossi closes in 10th place.
