The incident took place in Tycha on Friday, July 31, in a multi-family house at Honoraty Street in Tychy. The police were called for a bloodied child. The Polish Medical Air Rescue took him to the Upper Silesian Child Health Center in Katowice-Ligota. While still in the helicopter, the rescuers gave the injured baby painkillers and sleeping pills.
– The boy arrived at our facility exactly at 6:40 PM. He immediately found himself on the operating table, where a team of our surgeons, ENT specialists and cardiac surgeons were waiting for him. The operation lasted 1.5 hours. The boy was unconscious, in a serious condition, with wounds to his neck, in shock due to significant blood loss. He needed urgent transfusion – explains Dr. Andrzej Bulandra, coordinator of the Children’s Trauma Center at GCZD in Katowice-Ligota.

Doctors were shocked by the wounds inflicted on the baby. It turned out that he had two large cuts and at least seven minor cuts. There is no doubt that this is an intentional act, an attempted murder.
– They were wounds with cuts to muscles, blood vessels, fortunately with a slight damage to the trachea. It can be said that our doctors saved his life – adds Andrzej Bulandra.

The boy was taken to the intensive care unit, he is in a stable condition, the doctors’ prognosis is good. Currently, the baby has been put into a pharmacological coma. He will be awake in a few days.
– The preliminary findings show that the mother most likely injured her one and a half year old child – says the asp. pc Barbara Kołodziejczyk. Intensive investigative activities are currently underway. Once the charges are confirmed, she will face a life sentence for attempted murder.
