Mother and seven children die in house fire in France | Abroad

A mother and her seven children died in a house fire in France on Monday. The youngest child was two years old, the oldest fourteen.

The house fire took place in Charly-sur-Marne, a town 80 kilometers east of Paris in the Aisne department. During the night, the fire brigade received a report from local residents that a fire had broken out in the house on the second floor of an apartment building.

According to the French television channel BFM are five girls and two boys. The father of the family survived the fire and was removed from the building by the fire brigade. He was taken to hospital with severe burns.

Firefighters had the fire under control after several hours. It is not yet clear how the fire started. The French public prosecutor’s office is launching an investigation.
