Most Norwegians are in favor of a national liquor ban

It shows a survey from Opinion.

Through the Norwegian Corona Monitor, they have asked 1,490 Norwegians if they support the decision that a full liquor ban has been introduced throughout the country after midnight.

71 per cent support the decision to stop drinking, 18 per cent do not support it, while 11 per cent are unsure or do not know the answer.

– Support for bar stops is high throughout the country. Which is perhaps a little surprising, especially in parts of the country where the infection has traditionally been low, says senior adviser Nora Clausen in Opinion.

Most support drinking after midnight in Central Norway (74%), followed by Eastern Norway (73%) and Western Norway (72%). The lowest share is in Agder, Vestfold and Telemark (64%).

In Oslo, 70 percent support the liquor ban.

The government decided on August 7 to ban alcohol after midnight throughout the country.

– We have said that we will open society gradually, together and in control. Recently, we have seen increased infection in society. In order to maintain control, we must therefore step on the brakes for further reopening and reinstate measures. This is in line with the Norwegian Directorate of Health and the National Institute of Public Health’s professional recommendation, said Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie.
