Moroccans stranded abroad: 633 people return to the Kingdom via Marrakech Airport

The repatriation operation of Moroccans stranded abroad following the closure of the air, land and maritime borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic, continued on Saturday at Marrakech-Menara International Airport with the arrival of a new group of 633 people.

Four Royal Air Maroc (RAM) planes, with on board each aircraft between 157 and 159 passengers, landed at the Ocher City International Airport, coming from France (3 flights, 476 citizens) and l ‘Germany (one flight, 157 people).

These new arrivals, including babies, bring to 1,550 the number of citizens who have returned to the Motherland via Marrakech-Menara Airport during the last 24 hours on board a total of 10 flights from Great Britain and France. , the Netherlands, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Germany.

All the necessary measures have been taken in close coordination with all the departments and parties concerned to ensure the smooth running of this operation and this, in strict compliance with the recommended preventive measures and the health protocol in force (wearing a mask, respect physical distancing, hand and luggage disinfection, etc.).

All of the intervening departments have thus strengthened their systems in order to allow these Moroccans to complete customs formalities and recover their luggage in a fluid manner, before boarding a bus on board bound for hotel establishments in the city. , where they will benefit from Covid-19 screening tests, before being confined in accordance with the health protocol in force.

Approached by the MAP on their arrival, repatriated citizens wished to express their sincere thanks and their deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the High benevolence and the high solicitude with which the Sovereign continues to surround His faithful subjects, all by welcoming the rigorous and optimal organization as well as the good progress of this humanitarian operation.

They could not, on this occasion, hide their deep emotion and their great relief to have returned to the country, praising the strong mobilization of the different services concerned along the different stages of this operation in order to facilitate the return to the Kingdom of the beneficiaries of this action in the best conditions.

Remember that these operations, which follow the speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, before the House of Councilors announcing the start of repatriation, are taking place in a straight line of the overall strategy implemented in Morocco in accordance with the high guidelines of King Mohammed VI.

Some 30 flights were scheduled between June 21 and 27 for the repatriation of 4,644 Moroccans stranded in 17 countries, in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
