Moroccan businessman found dead in Netherlands

The lifeless body of Mimoun Bergoual, a 66-year-old Moroccan businessman, was found at 6 a.m. on Tuesday at his home in Hofdijklaan, a town in the south of the Netherlands. Is this a burglary or a homicide? An investigation is underway to unravel the mystery.

For the time being, underlines a local media, no information has been disclosed on the circumstances of the death. Within the Moroccan community, rumors are already circulating about a possible settling of scores. However, the victim, known for his peaceful and tolerant character, contented himself with the minimum and never kept money or valuables at home.

The investigators do not have sufficient clues to be able to trace the traces of the perpetrators of the attack. Otherwise, a call for witnesses was launched, while an autopsy was requested by the Department of Forensic Investigations. Although the hypothesis of a burglary is raised, the police do not rule out the criminal trail.

Mimoun Bergoual lived with his wife on a small farm bought two years ago. A highly appreciated figure in the Moroccan community in Leiden, the one who comes from Tangier enjoyed an excellent reputation. “It’s so unreal. He was such a nice man. Bergoual was an entrepreneur from start to finish. One of those who saw opportunities everywhere. He was working in real estate, but in 2018, for example, he also took over Albert Heijn’s lease on the Kooiplein when this supermarket moved to the other side, ”said one of his old friends.
