Morning – Morocco reaffirms in New York the central role of the UN in the world of today and tomorrow

On the occasion of the celebration Friday of the 75th anniversary of the signing of the founding Charter of the United Nations, the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN, Omar Hilale, underlined the Kingdom’s commitment for a peaceful, sustainable world developed and environmentally friendly.
“As the United Nations celebrates its 75th anniversary, we must commit ourselves to a collective present and future that we want for ourselves and for future generations,” said Hilale in a video message posted on the website of the United Nations to mark this occasion.
For Morocco, underlined the ambassador, “the present and the future that we want is a peaceful world, lastingly developed and respectful of the environment, where the 2030 Agenda is a reality for all and where human rights ‘Men are fully respected’.
He noted, in this regard, that peace and security, development and human rights are reinforced by respect for the Charter of the United Nations and its objectives and principles, in particular the sovereignty of States, their integrity territorial and their national unity.
“The present and the future we want has a strong United Nations organization as its core. A world that supports the strength of multilateralism, solidarity and unity to meet collective challenges, “said the Moroccan diplomat.
As the world faces unprecedented challenges as a result of Covid-19, the United Nations continues to act on the most pressing problems for humanity, said Ambassador Hilale, who praised the Secretary’s leadership General of the United Nations during this period.
“We applaud and salute the strong leadership of the Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, during this difficult time,” he said in the video message.
“The United Nations continued its activities in the current global context marked by the pandemic. For us, this is eloquent testimony to the important and central role of our organization in the world of today and tomorrow, ”said Mr. Hilale. “Morocco will certainly continue to play its active role and make its determined contribution to this end,” he concluded. The UN commemorates the anniversary of the signing of its Founding Charter which took place on June 26, 1945 in San Francisco.
