More than one in two executives believe their workload has increased compared to last year

Asked to say if they have it “the sensation” that their workload has increased since the beginning of last year, 58% of the managers interviewed answer yes (42% no), according to this barometer for the CGT of managers in partnership with Secafi.

Managers are also 46% who say that their working hours have increased. 20% estimate their average weekly working time (including working hours in transport, at home, etc.) at 49 hours or more per week (compared to 15% in 2021), 22% estimate it among 45 and 48 hours, 35% between 40 and 44 hours and only 23% between 35 and 39 hours. I am also 54% to declare to work “often” on their days off.

For the CGT of executives, these figures are to be related to the development of teleworking, being the saving of transport time “absorbed” by a sharply increasing workload and less manned working hours.

73% of executives also believe that their purchasing power has decreased in a year, with more than one in two executives judging their pay out of line with actual working hours (52%) and their load of work (53%).

When asked to indicate their priorities, executives mention their work-life balance (71%), salary (67%) or the content and meaning of their work (54%).

The survey also shows that in order to defend their retirement, 48% of the executives interviewed say they are ready to demonstrate and 42% to strike.

Managers are also strict about their employer’s managerial practices: for 40% of them, them “rather deteriorated” in the last year (for 16% “somewhat improved” and for 44% “have not changed”). 68% do not feel associated with the strategic choices of management.

The survey was conducted online from 23 to 31 August on a sample of 1,000 people representing the executive population, according to the quota method.
