More than a thousand corona patients admitted to hospital | Inland

There are 811 corona patients on the nursing wards. That is an increase of 26 compared to Tuesday.

The number of people with corona in intensive care units rose from 190 to 210. In the past 24 hours, 11 people have been moved to hospitals in other parts of the country. Two weeks ago, those hospitals started spreading to ease the pressure on overcrowded hospitals. Almost 200 people have now been transferred.

There are also 580 people with other conditions in intensive care. For example, they have cancer or heart complaints, or have been the victim of a serious accident. In total, intensivists treat 790 patients, the highest number since May 21. With the current state of affairs, 1,350 beds are available. If necessary, this number can be increased to 1,700 in January.

Another day record

Between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, 4,996 new corona cases have been reported. That is another day record. Between Monday morning and Tuesday morning, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment had received 4,547 reports of positive tests and the previous 24 hours 4,575.

For the fourth day in a row, the number of new cases exceeds 4,000. More than 29,000 new infections have been reported in the past seven days.

The number of deaths increased by 36. That is not to say that all these people died in the last 24 hours. Such information is sometimes passed on with some delay. Nine deaths were reported between Thursday morning and Friday morning.
