31 participants of the September protests held in Yerevan for the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan’s government are still in prison.

According to information obtained by SIA, the Armenian service of “Azadlig” radio broadcasted the news with reference to the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to what was said, those arrested are accused of participating in mass riots and attacking police officers. According to the information provided by human rights defender Zaruhi Hovhannisyan to “Azatutyun” radio, 26 of those arrested are being held in Nubarashen, Armenia’s largest penitentiary in Yerevan. According to him, the majority of those arrested are allegedly students.

It should be noted that the protests in Yerevan started on September 19, 2023 in response to the cease-fire in unrecognized Karabakh, which was concluded on Azerbaijan’s terms.

It should be noted that during the protests, one of the leaders of the opposition, representative of the “Mother Armenia” bloc, Andranik Tevanyan, and Levon Kocharyan, the son of ex-president Robert Kocharyan, were also detained.
