more than 1,500 people help an Aragonese to find his backpack

“We are going to put Facebook to the test.” With these words, on December 13, Ramón Ferrer, the Huesca photographer, known and loved by lovers of mountain races, informed his large group of friends of this social network that he had “forgotten on the ground in a street in Jaca “his backcountry ski backpack. “Inside there were some trifles and my new camera, brand new,” he said. “If anyone knows about her, please (vor),” he asked.

And friends and acquaintances began to help him. “By the time 250 people had already shared the publication and reached almost 1,500 people. The people are amazing. I already knew it, but it exceeded my expectations, “Ferrer tells HERALDO. And it is not the first time that he forgot something and used social networks to find it.” The first time I forgot an ice ax in the Molieres marathon, a race in the Aran Valley. I left the backpack and the ice ax to take some photos from the top, and when I went down I only took the backpack. I am very clueless“, he explains.” I put it on Facebook and a person from the organization contacted me who had found it. “

“The second time I used social media it was because I left my backpack with the camera while we put everything in the trunk. This time she was not lost, a friend had her, but when I got to Huesca I wanted to be able to download the photos from the camera to upload them and I uploaded a post to Facebook to see if someone was going from Jaca to Huesca that afternoon and could bring it to me. Right away I had five messages, one of them from the boy who brought it to me, who turned out to be a photographer as well, “he details.” But the reality is that no publication has had as much impact as this one. “

“I came to think that I was going to appear in Cádiz”, assures Ferrer. “It has been shared by people from all over Spain and not only by Facebook. I have evidence that it was shared by WhatsApp groups.” Such has been the repercussion that this Huesca photographer She has received messages from several people asking how they could help her find her.

“It is a specific backcountry ski backpack for the Altitoy, the mountain skiing race that takes place in the French Pyrenees. A good Basque friend gave it to me”, specifies Ferrer. “Inside, except for the camera I had just bought, I didn’t have many things: a pair of gloves and a pair of pants”.

But again. Social networks once again gave results to this Huesca photographer. “Antonia wrote to me through Facebook and told me that she had it. In fact, she sent me the message long before I saw it because since they were not friends on Facebook, it did not appear in the usual messages tab.”

Stuffed animals and even photos

The story of Ramón Ferrer is just one of many that happen on the social network. In recent weeks, social networks have witnessed some more: “a Dumbo stuffed animal” lost in the Aragonese capital was sought through Twitter or a photo found in the Juslibol that a person kindly collected thinking that it could be an important memory for someone he was sneaking into a group of mountaineers.

Not everyone has happy endings. These publications have not been as successful as Ferrer’s, but it seems that many work and that the Aragonese know it. At least that is how some comments that this Huesca photographer received in the publication assured him: “Ramón, I’m going to give you hope. I found a digital camera in a race in France and, by pulling the photos and the numbers, I was able to find its rightful owner who was from Zaragoza “ or “Good luck! I announced the loss of a tent, and it turned up.”
