More than 1000 construction sites are slowing down traffic on the Autobahn

This coming weekend, numerous construction sites in particular will put drivers on the motorways to the test. According to ADAC, there are currently more than 1000 in total.

When the weather is nice, excursion traffic is to be expected, especially on Sundays. In addition, the one-week spring break begins in Saxony-Anhalt and Hamburg. The Auto Club Europa (ACE) assumes that things will get tight, especially around Hamburg and on the routes towards the German coast.

ACE often considers delays and traffic jams to be possible in both directions, particularly on the following routes:

A 1 Cologne – Dortmund – Bremen – Hamburg – Lübeck
 A 2 Hannover – Dortmund
A 3 Oberhausen – Cologne – Frankfurt/Main – Würzburg – Nuremberg
 A 5 Frankfurt/Main – Karlsruhe
 A 6 Mannheim – Heilbronn – Nürnberg
A 7 Hamburg – Hanover and Würzburg – Ulm – Füssen/Reutte
A 8 Karlsruhe – Stuttgart – Munich – Salzburg
A 9 Nuremberg – Munich
 A 10 Berliner Ring
A 45 Olpe – Hagen
A 61 Mönchengladbach – Koblenz – Ludwigshafen
A 81 Heilbronn – Stuttgart – Singen
A 93 Rosenheim – Kiefersfelden
A 95 Munich – Garmisch-Partenkirchen
A 96 Kreuz Memmingen
A 99 Munich bypass

According to the ADAC, the classic foreign routes will be largely freely passable next weekend. But there are now many construction sites there, too. Anyone planning an Alpine road tour should know that many passes are currently still closed and will only be released later in May or even in June.

Drivers can find out about waiting times at the Walserberg, Kiefersfelden and Suben border crossings online in advance from the Austrian infrastructure company ASFINAG.

In Switzerland, according to ACE, traffic jams can occur in front of the Gotthard tunnel (A 2) on Saturday late in the morning, but the waiting time is manageable.
