Now the 10 million mark of registered infections has been exceeded, as from the numbers of the Johns Hopkins University emerges on Sunday. Almost half a million people have died in connection with the virus since the pandemic began, the US scientists reported.
Most of the Covid-19 infections and deaths are in the United States. According to the university, the number of infected people here was 2,510,323 on Sunday, and there are more than 125,000 deaths.
While the number of new infections in Europe has recently declined sharply, the situation is currently worsening in many parts of the world. A million new infections have been reported in the past six days alone.
The website of the researchers at Johns Hopkins University is regularly updated with incoming data and therefore shows a higher level of confirmed infections than the official figures of the World Health Organization (WHO). In some cases, however, the university’s figures have recently been revised downwards.
