More expensive games or more ads? Take Two chose both

<!—->

Take Two was the first to officially admit that it would charge more for games for the next generation of consoles than for those that run on existing consoles. If you want to play this year’s NBA 2K21 basketball on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, you have to pay ten dollars (approximately 250 CZK) more than you were used to.

Not that we would be happy about it, but due to the steeply rising development costs, we can understand this trend (for more see our memberto). What is striking, however, is the fact that even this significant increase in price (for Europeans should go up to 34%) Take Two is not enough and still experiment with introducing additional in-game advertising. The Stevivor server is the first noticedthat after applying the latest update, an ad is displayed during the match recording screen. What’s worse, it’s unskilled, so even owners of fast SSDs have to look it over before they even get into the game.

That fans are not happy about it is quite expected, after all, it is not so long ago that they burned Electronic Arts with a similar attempt (we wrote here). But Take Two insist on their own, after all, they have been defending players in the same way in the previous two years.

At the moment, the game is only for sale on the current generation of consoles, as it has a graphic feature significantly nicer next gen version of the same core, it can be assumed that the ads will play there as well. Or will Take Two sell the option to buy a special patch that will remove the ads from the current version? Neither option is beneficial for players.
