A 32-year-old is said to have driven drunk on his moped through Lünen last year. The trip ended at a metal post and should now be tried in court.

With over two per thousand in his blood, a 32-year-old apparently swung on his moped and caused damage on a broad front in Lünen. The drunk driving should have brought him to the dock by now. But there was no trace of him.

In the early morning of January 26, 2020, the man from Hamm and his moped were out and about in Lünen. According to the indictment, the 32-year-old had 2.18 per mille and that was also noticeable in the long term. In the area of ​​Konrad-Adenauer-Straße and Viktoriastraße, so the allegation, he hit a metal post. The result: he was injured, the moped was junk and the metal post was also damaged.

Several traffic offenses

Because of the serious drunk driving, the man, who has already appeared several times in the past with traffic offenses, should now have been answerable before the district court in Lünen. However, he was missing from the appointment despite being properly summoned.

Under the circumstances, the judge had no choice but to dismiss the police officer, who appeared as a witness, unheard. The whole thing was not without consequences for the 32-year-old. At the request of the public prosecutor’s office, a penalty order was issued and the defendant was sentenced in absentia to a fine of 600 euros.
