Montreal is in the Stanley Cup final after 28 years. Vegas defeated in overtime

The Montreal hockey players defeated the NHL Vegas 3: 2 semi-final series in overtime in the sixth game and are celebrating their first advance to the Stanley Cup final since 1993. Artturi Lehkonen scored the decisive goal in the 62nd minute.

The Finnish forward ended a quick counterattack after an excellent pass by Phillip Danault, and with a blow without preparation, the Canadiens fired their way to the final.

Carey Price was at the beginning of the decisive event, who also confirmed his excellent form in this year’s battle for the Stanley Cup in the sixth match. With their 37th hit in the match, Price fired a shot from Max Pacioretty and launched a counterattack, at the end of which was Lehkonen.

The change in the goal did not help Vegas to balance the series, where after a one-match pause, the Swede Robin Lehner took precedence over Marc-Andre Fleury.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper caught a successful match, similar to the fourth match in the series, eliminating 29 Canadiens shots, but at the decisive moment he was unable to move against Lehkonen and Fin took advantage of a place on the front pole.

He was the first to beat Lehner with a hit in a power play by Shea Weber, and in the second period he sent Montreal to a 2: 1 lead with Cole Caufield. The young American forward slid past defender Brian McNabb at the right guard and shot Lehner in the immediate vicinity for the second time.

The Golden Knights caught up with the match. Reilly Smith responded quickly to Weber’s shot and Alec Martinez sent the match into overtime with a goal from the beginning of the third period. Experienced Bek took advantage of Price’s small commitment and arrived by throwing Alex Pietrangel behind the back of an otherwise flawless goalkeeper.

Other attempts, including four shots by Czech striker Tomas Nosk, were not released by Price, and after 28 years he led the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup final.
