Montpellier Handball Endowment Fund Gala Raises Over 60,000 Euros for Disabled Sport and Paralympic Athletes Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

After Ukraine last year and the 45,000 euros collected, this year the gala evening of the Montpellier Handball Endowment Fund was organized for the benefit of disabled sport one year from the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It raised more than 60,000 euros, in particular during the auction of autographed jerseys, and paintings dotted with that made by the Argentinian international Diego Simonet to help the Paralympic athletes in the region in their preparation but also to take people with disabilities to experience a day of Paris Olympics.

The evening took place on Wednesday May 31 at the FDI stadium, alongside pro players from MHB, table tennis champions from Montpellier, the Lebrun brothers, swimmer Florent Manadou, ex-rugby player Fulgence Ouedraogo and Paralympic athletes from region.

Philippe Rivière, President of the Endowment Fund, explains his choice: ” It’s been 100 years since we organized an Olympic Games in France, so it seemed important to me to help the Paralympic athletes to defend our colors on our territory. Some of them and even champions only have one sponsor to make ends meet.”

Jonathan Hivernat is the captain of the French wheelchair rugby team, European champion and qualified for the Paris Olympics: ” we are like everyone else, confronted with the necks of life which increase but in addition we have particular costs linked to our material handicap for example.

During the evening, Florent Manaudou, Valentin Porte and Remi Desbonnet paid for themselves, trying their hand at table tennis against Montpellier champions Felix and Alexis Lebrun. Verdict: you can’t be good everywhere!!!!
