Montauban. USM: Victor Laval knows the win

Find today the presentation of the new recruits of the USM. We start with the first line…

Victor Laval was born on November 27, 1989 (32 years old), measures 1m86 for 125kg. It is therefore today what is called a confirmed right pillar. A player who did not know rugby school. “I started rugby very late in Périgueux, as a second year cadet. I come from Périgord and before opting for rugby, I did basketball and judo” he says. His professional career began in 2010 in Brive where he played a few Top 14 games until 2014, then left for Carcassonne (2014-2016), one season in Limoges (2016-2017) before the last five in Mont-de- Marsan (2017-2022). Mont-de-Marsan who literally walked on water last season by finishing the regular phase in first place in the Pro D2. Victor Laval explains why: “Two seasons ago we had a hard time keeping up and last season we did everything not to relive that with a close-knit group always together. Fear made us win. Everything helped us. smile, it’s very rare”. A dream year that he would like to relive under his new colors: “there is a very good group and I hope to relive the same thing as last season with Mont-de-Marsan”. Montalbanais recently and already seduced: “I love Montauban with a pretty pedestrian city center, welcoming people. It’s the same thing at USM”. Victor Laval is known for his scrum holding on the right side which is so important in this game, moreover he adds “I like to touch the ball and be present in defense. My role is mainly to hold the scrum and tackle guys . We’ll do the job. If we can get more, we’ll see.” Victor Laval comes from the Landes but remains above all a Périgourdin, little wonder that his extra-rugby passions are “fishing, hunting, nature. Being from Périgord, you can only love nature. I am open to everything, like wine and history”. At 32, a stalwart is said to be in his prime. He really wants to demonstrate it in “green and black”. He has just done so in Leucate by scoring the winning try against Narbonne in support of young winger Julian Hauw.
