Monkeypox has not been found in Solo, Gibran urges residents to remain vigilant

SOLOKOMPAS.com – Mayor Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka urges Solo residents to stay alert against transmission of monkeypox disease or monkey poxalthough not yet found in Solo.

He also asked residents to immediately report to local health workers if they experience itching on the skin.

“(The public) just be alert. If a case like that is found, report it immediately. Itching on the skin and others, just be careful,” said Gibran in Solo, Central Java, Monday (8/8/2022).

President Jokowi’s eldest son added that early detection is important as a measure to anticipate the spread of monkeypox, such as: testing and tracing.

In addition, he continued, hospitals in Solo were alerted. In addition to anticipating monkeypox, it is also because the spread of Covid-19 has not been completely finished.

“The hospital is on standby. The Covid is pretty good. But it’s safe. Covid is still safe,” he explained.

Separately, the Head of the Solo City Health Service (DKK) Siti Wahyuningsih said there had been no reports of monkeypox in Solo.

He hopes that the disease does not enter Solo. However, his party asked the residents of Solo to remain vigilant.

“Thank God there has been no report (of monkeypox). Hopefully there won’t be,” said Ning, Siti Wahyuningsih’s nickname.

He appealed to the Indonesian people, especially in Central Java, not to panic. In addition, he asked residents to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain health protocols.
