Monica Surprises Atlanta Crowd with “Burning Blue” Performance Featuring Mariah the Scientist
ATLANTA,GA - December 6,2024 – R&B veteran Monica delivered a special moment during her “The Boy Is Mine Tour” stop in Atlanta on Friday,December 5,bringing out rising star Mariah the Scientist for a performance of “burning Blue.” The unexpected collaboration created a viral moment and highlighted a connection between two generations of R&B artists from the same city.
The performance at State Farm Arena marked a rare live link-up for the artists, despite a previous instance where Mariah performed “aura” over Monica’s “So Gone” instrumental during her “To Be Eaten Alive Tour” last year. The surprise appearance underscores the growing trend of established artists using their platforms to elevate newer talent, and offers a preview of what fans can expect from Mariah’s upcoming “HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY TOUR” beginning in January 2026.
Monica introduced mariah to the eager crowd, calling her “my sister” before the “Is It A Crime” artist launched into her rendition of the track, singing, “I got that blue fever / Cold as ice ’til you came near / You’re like another fire-breathing creature.”

The tour supports her August album, HEARTS SOLD SEPARATELY, which features a single collaboration with Kali Uchis.
