Klaus-Dietmar was on Facebook again. But this time he did everything right because he won a Makita tool kit! Klaus-Dietmar didn’t have to do much about it, he just had to click on a picture on Facebook and answer three simple questions.

Then he just has to enter his contact details, enter his contact details again, confirm another email, and then … Yes, I don’t know that exactly … But according to the Facebook page, he has now won a Makita …

“Mom, clean up the workshop!” He calls out to his wife, because he needs space now.

Did Klaus-Dietmar really win a Makita tool set?

Oh, I’m afraid Klaus-Dietmar has fallen into another trap. Our big, proud Klaus-Dietmar, who has been washed up and down and nobody can be fooled.

This time Klaus-Dietmar fell for a fake competition on Facebook. It is a typical three-stage fake competition. At the beginning there is always the bait.

Here, for example, a Facebook page pretends to be Hornbach. However, this is not the official Hornbach Facebook page, but a page copied by fraudsters (HERE the real Hornbach Facebook page). This site uses the logo of the DIY chain in an unauthorized and misleading way. In the fake competition it reads:

Pass the test, rate our brand and receive a Makita brand tool kit!
Hornbach carries out studies in which we want to understand customer satisfaction with our brand. Answer 3 simple questions to help us do better. After the survey, you can provide your contact details and receive valuable prizes from MAKITA.

And it was precisely at this point that Klaus-Dietmar fell for the fake competition. This bait on Facebook refers to an intermediary website. Some nonsensical answers must be given here. It doesn’t matter what Klaus-Dietmar clicked on. He is always called the winner.

The last step is then decisive in this process. In this last step, in turn, the participants in the previous fake competition are directed to a so-called affiliate. Affiliates are nothing more than commission programs in which the organizer receives a certain commission from a marketer for each participant.

These programs can run very differently. Sometimes there are advertising competitions in which the participants are flooded with a lot of (sometimes dubious) advertising. In an emergency, these affiliates can also be hidden subscription traps.

Basically, this entire strategy is briefly explained: lure as many people as possible into a commission program (even with fakes and lies) so that you get a maximum of commissions in the end.

And Klaus-Dietmar? It is extremely questionable whether he will get a Makita tool set. In any case, he won’t win it from Hornbach.

Klaus-Dietmar is a fictional literary person. The fake competition, however, is a real scam method on Facebook.
