“Moldova a Tool of the West: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie Calls for Security of Russian Citizens”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie, Vitaly Ignatiev, called for intensifying work to ensure the security of Russian citizens and compatriots amid the deteriorating situation in the region through the fault of Moldova. This was written today, May 30, by the news agency Novosti Pridnestrovya.

The main factors of destabilization in Tiraspol are called the militarization of neighboring Moldova, the destruction of Russian identity and the negotiation mechanism.

“Moldova is an instrument of the West, completely under the control of the military and political structures of the West and NATO, being an instrument for creating instability and tension in the region,” Ignatiev emphasized.

He added that Chisinau is artificially imposing an identity that is complementary to the West, while doing everything to destroy Russian identity and oust Russia from the region. In parallel with this, Chisinau is making attempts to destroy the current negotiation process, reformat the existing mechanisms for resolving the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict, leveling the role and participation of the Russian Federation.

“Everything is being done in order not to use the tools of the international negotiation process, in which Pridnestrovie has an equal position along with Moldova, and Russia is an internationally recognized co-mediator with clearly defined powers and capabilities,” Vitaly Ignatiev stated.

According to the minister, it is necessary to take steps to implement the provisions of the new Russian Foreign Policy Concept, including on providing support to allies and partners in promoting common interests, ensuring their security and sustainable development.

Let us recall that earlier Tiraspol repeatedly called on Moscow to increase the number of peacekeeping contingents in Pridnestrovie, including at the expense of Russian citizens permanently residing in the republic. The authorities of Transnistria view the arming of the Moldovan army, which is now carried out by their partners from NATO, as a security threat and pin their hopes on Russia’s help.

“And in this situation, the role of the peacekeeping operation is high, but at the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the role of international structures, including intensifying the actions of the Russian Federation so that we do not allow an escalation of tension,” Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized.

As reported EADaily , the statements of Moldova and the West on the need to create new dialogue platforms on Transnistria without Russia’s participation in the Russian Parliament are considered “as far-fetched and dangerous ideas.” The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs spoke about this not so long ago. Grigory Karasin.

“We stand for the resumption of the rhythmic work of the 5 + 2 format (OSCE, Russia, Ukraine – mediators, the USA, the EU – observers in the negotiations between the Republic of Moldova and the PMR. – EADaily note) as the appropriate conditions form. he is still able to contribute to the solution of current issues of interaction between the parties and to the implementation of the agreements already reached”, the senator concluded.
