What has been speculated about since the beginning of 2023 is finally becoming a reality. Mojmír Chytil is officially a player of Slavia Prague, where he comes from Sigma Olomouc.
Chytil’s current contract in Olomouc expired in December, so Sigma had to act. Slavia offered decent money for a buyout already in January, but sports director Ladislav Minář refused, as he wanted to keep him in the squad for the spring.
In the summer, however, he already agreed to leave and Chytil is moving to Prague. Slavia’s interest has been talked about for a long time, as coach Jindřich Trpišovský is a great admirer of him and often made it known in interviews and press conferences.
They were caught by an attacker who is exactly what Slavia lacks. Combative, strong in the box, great with his back to the goal and can also score goals. In the current season, he scored 15 of them (12 league + 3 cup), to which he added a hat-trick in his debut in the national team. In Eden, the 24-year-old striker signed a contract until 2027.
“The first thing that comes to mind through Mojmír is the contribution to the team. I hope that he will bring his combativeness to us, that unpleasantness that he has for the opponent’s defenses. He has very good ball coverage, possibly the best back-to-the-goal game in the league. He is a team player, combative, with excellent physical parameters. When I talk to some people about him, they are surprised at how old he actually is, they slowly think of him as a league matador (laughs). What we will demand from him the most will be the game in the box and with his back to the goal. says for club website Jindřich Trpišovský.
“I am very happy that everything has been resolved, I can be a Slavia player. Fortunately, the negotiations turned out successfully, for which I am very happy. I am looking forward to Petr Ševčík and Aleš Mandous, we have written several times about Slavia. And I’m also really looking forward to the fans. Every time I played at Eden, the atmosphere was great. I want to be a valid reinforcement, it’s a big challenge and a step in my next career,” says Chytil after signing the contract.
He caught them with a reinforcement that will immediately attack the starting line-up. His main competition will be Václav Jurečka, who caught the form of life in the superstructure and became the best scorer in the league. However, he has shown that he is better played as a sub or in a pair than as a lone striker, giving hope of a striking attacking duo.
The other forwards Mick van Buren and Stanislav Tecl are out of contract and it is not yet certain whether they will continue in Eden. From Chytila, however, Trpišovský et al. they promise great things.
