New Delhi: As part of the reporting of the covid subtype that is spreading in China and India, it is recommended to strengthen checks at the country’s airports. Samples are expected to be collected from the 2% of passengers arriving in India by air from abroad. According to the letter sent by the Ministry of Health to the Ministry of Aviation, they should be sent for the covid test.
The action of the Ministry of Health of the Union is part of the strengthening of the defense against Covid-19. The Ministry of Health has also suggested that samples taken from airports undergo genetic sequencing of Covid-positive cases. The letter says arrangements should be made at the airports from Saturday.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested stepping up surveillance as part of Covid prevention. Modi asked everyone not to let their guard down and to be ready to wear masks. It was decided to step up surveillance at a high-level meeting convened by the Prime Minister.
States have been mandated to ensure facilities in hospitals. The elderly and people in poor health who have not yet received the preventive vaccine should be ready immediately. Modi also suggested that regulations, including the wearing of masks, should be made mandatory.
Surveillance should be strengthened at international airports. The price of essential medicines should be monitored. The number of covid tests should be increased. Modi also suggested putting more emphasis on genetic sequencing.
