Mobile Unit evicts squatted building in Vondelparkbuurt

The Police Mobile Unit has it tonight squatted building on the Waldeck Pyrmontlaan in South. The eviction started around 5.30pm and lasted almost two hours. Several squatters have been arrested.

At around 5:50 p.m., the police indicated that the last warning had been issued. After that, a special department of the ME was busy opening the door. At 6:00 PM, the Detention Unit went in to pick up the squatters.

A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service said it was an eviction ordered by the public prosecutor. “The reason is that they were caught red-handed last night. There is no question of home rights for the squatters. The owner has also filed a report.”

Several neighbors said earlier today that they were not happy with the squat. “If someone owns a property, it’s not up to someone else to claim it or do anything with it,” he said. an 88-year-old local resident who lives two doors down from the squatted building.

The Mobile Unit was already present in the city earlier today because of the major corona protest on and around the Museumplein. The demonstration was peaceful.
