MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew SC signed two-time league Golden Boot winner Bradley Wright-Phillips on Wednesday. The conditions were not disclosed.
He had eight goals and six assists in 18 games with LAFC in 2020 and was named MLS Comeback Player of the Year.
The 35-year-old forward led Major League Soccer with 27 goals in 2014 and 24 goals in 2016, both with the New York Red Bulls. He ranks sixth in MLS history with 116 goals in 213 games with NYRB (2013-19) and LAFC.
“We are delighted that Bradley has chosen to join Crew SC as we look to build on our 2020 MLS Cup title and continue to fight for the trophies through to 2021,” said the President and CEO of team Tim Bezbatchenko in a team statement. “As one of the most capable forwards in our league over the past decade, Bradley brings invaluable veteran experience to our attacking corps and we look forward to his contributions.
“We also believe that Bradley’s quality character and mindset is an asset to every team he has played for and has been integral to all the personal success he has enjoyed in his career. “
Wright-Phillips is a two-time MLS Best XI (2014, 2016) and three-time MLS Supporters’ Shield winner (2013, 2015, 2018).
Also on Wednesday, the crew saw alternate goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell sign with expansion club Austin FC. He has made several appearances this season for Columbus after joining San Jose.
