MLS biggest star, LAFC forward Carlos Vela, has decided not to participate in the league mini-tournament in Orlando.
The Los Angeles star and his wife are expecting a baby. And depending on the agreement between MLS and the players’ union, an athlete whose spouse is pregnant may decide not to report.
The network ESPN reported last week that MLS’s 2019 MVP was seriously leaning towards the option, but had yet to officially notify his team.
Remember that the families of the players are not allowed in Orlando.
The LAFC is favored to win the tournament on several sports betting sites. But that could change with Vela’s official withdrawal.
In 2019, Vela smashed the MLS record, scoring 34 goals.
The first LAFC game will take place on July 13 against Houston.
