MLB: The Blue Jays make a few moves before the Phillies game

Wednesday 21 September 2022. 3:07 pm

The Toronto Blue Jays drew southpaw Foster Griffin from the AAA level and sent right-handed pitcher Julian Merryweather to the Buffalo Bisons on Wednesday before their game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Merryweather, 30, saw the action in the Jays’ 18-11 win over the Phillies on Tuesday night. He struggled, however, as he conceded three hits, five points earned and two walks in two-thirds of an inning.

It was his 26th appearance of the season, his third with Toronto. This year, he has a record of no wins and three losses, as well as an average of 6.75 points earned.

For his part, Griffin is a 27-year-old gunner who was acquired by the Royals in July and is still looking for a first match with the Blue Jays.

In five games with the Royals in 2022, he is recording an ERA of 12.45 in four and a third inning of work.

After Wednesday’s game against the Phillies, the Jays will finish the season with four series against divisional opponents. They will play four games against the Rays first, before taking on the Yankees, Red Sox and Orioles.
