Dodgers Advance to World Series After Defeating Brewers in Seven-game NLCS
Los Angeles secured their spot in the 2025 World series, defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in a thrilling seven-game National League Championship Series. The Dodgers will face the american League champions for the MLB title.
this marks the third postseason meeting between the dodgers and Brewers. Los Angeles previously defeated Milwaukee in a contentious seven-game NLCS in 2018, winning 5-1 on the road in Game 7, and again in the 2020 NL Wild card Series with a sweep.
The Brewers had dominated the regular season series, sweeping all six head-to-head matchups against the Dodgers and outscoring them 31-16 in games played in July.
A key storyline throughout the series was the Dodgers’ bullpen, which had been a weak link. Dodgers starters were able to provide enough length to minimize middle relief usage and get the ball to closer Roki Sasaki, who proved to be a weapon. Brewers hitters attempted to capitalize by knocking out Dodgers starters early.
Shohei Ohtani was a central figure,despite a recent offensive slump. After a two-homer performance against the Reds in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series, Ohtani went 2-for-22 (.091) with nine strikeouts before the NLCS. He also delivered six strong innings with nine strikeouts in Game 1 of the NL Division Series.
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho played a role in the Dodgers’ playoff run. Acquired mid-season, varsho is known for his speed, stealing 19 bases in 54 games without being caught. He is a .314 career hitter in Toronto, with one home run, and had five hits in 14 at-bats against Arizona during a three-game series at Rogers Center in June.Varsho owns a career.642 postseason OPS, with nine extra-base hits and 11 RBIs in 99 at-bats.
