jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The Constitutional Court held a trial hearing for Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections at the Constitutional Court Building, Monday (21/9).

The Petitioner is a former Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli | and his colleague Abdulrachim Kresno, who submitted a request for review of Article 222 of Law Number 7 Year 2017.

According to Rizal Ramli and Kresno, the presidential threshold causes polarization in society and does not have an impact on strengthening the presidential system.

Constitutional Justice Suhartoyo asked senior economist Rizal Ramli to confirm whether or not he would run in the 2024 elections regarding his claim that the presidential threshold be removed.

“In order not to cause ambiguity, please clarify the legal position later so that it can be further elaborated and then provide a spectrum of understanding to the Court that the Court can be sure that the petitioners are two citizens who will actually run for presidential candidates in the presidential election. in the next contestation later, “said Suhartoyo in the trial hearing of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections at the Constitutional Court Building, Monday.

The ambiguity of the petition was assessed because the applicant said that four new parties participating in the 2019 Election, namely the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), the Berkarya Party and the Indonesian Change Movement Party (Garuda Party), could not carry candidate pairs because they did not meet the threshold. president.

For this reason, the petitioner is asked to confirm the actual constitutional losses suffered by these political parties or Rizal Ramli and his colleagues who wish to run for the 2024 General Election.

To convince the panel of judges, continued Suhartoyo, sufficient preliminary evidence is needed regarding the applicant’s future as a presidential or vice presidential candidate.
