Don’t expect any big news, the plug-in hybrid differs only in a handful of traditional details.

In recent weeks, Mitsubishi has unveiled several minor attractions for the premiere of the expected plug-in hybrid version of the new Outlander, whose previous generation was one of the best-selling plug-in hybrids in various parts of the world. Today, however, the carmaker decided to take a surprising step.
It has released the first official images of the plug-in hybrid version, but has not yet provided us with any specific specifications. We will have to wait for them until the official premiere, which, according to the information published today, will fortunately take place relatively soon – on October 28.

But let’s go back to the new photos, which will not surprise you with anything fundamental. The shapes of the Outlander PHEV correspond to the conventional version, so the only interesting novelty remains the charging socket, which is located in the right rear fender (opposite the tank). Of course, there are also new plaques on the front and fifth doors, which draw attention to the plug-in hybrid drive.
Despite the absence of significant innovations, the new Outlander is still able to impress with its distinctive mask in the characteristic Dynamic Shield design with split headlights and a chrome grille. The underbody comes standard with 20 ”alloy wheels and the body can be decorated with up to 10 different paints, including the possibility of a differently painted roof.

The interior once again adheres to classic concepts, including a 9 “infotainment screen and a 12.3” digital instrument panel screen, but has acquired new graphics showing information about the electrified powertrain. Despite the batteries powered by the electric motor, the car still offers up to three rows of seats.
We will have to wait for technical specifications, but the new plug-in hybrid powertrain should combine a gasoline combustion engine with a pair of electric motors, which is supposed to power larger batteries compared to the previous generation. In addition, there have been rumors in the past of a more powerful version, created by the Ralliart division, which could bear the famous name Evolution.

In addition, thanks to the improved Super All-Wheel Control system, the car should offer better driving characteristics in various weather conditions, and Power, for maximum performance, and Eco for maximum efficiency should also be new.
As mentioned in the introduction, the premiere of the new Outlander PHEV will take place on October 28 from 5:30 pm according to our time zone. The new Outlander could then appear on the domestic Japanese market before the end of the year.
